Jilly

Jilly began practicing Hatha Yoga from books and videos in 1999 and in 2003 she was lucky enough to be introduced to Julie Hanson at the Chi Yoga Centre. Julie’s teachings inspired Jilly to pursue a
deeper understanding and knowledge of Yoga and, in 2007 she enrolled for teacher training at the Chi Yoga School. There, Jilly was taught under the exceptional tuition and guidance of Julie Hanson and June Mitchell.

Jilly’s class is Seasonal Flow - designed to invigorate, strengthen and calm the body and mind by combining postures into a ‘flow’ or rhythmic sequence. It promotes overall wellbeing, flexibility, vitality and stress release and a higher level of health and fitness; building on power and agility, creating increased levels of energy, in tune with each season and linking it with Yoga practice and general life activities.

Judi

What began as a class taken once a week in the local sports centre has become a passion and a way of life.

After starting a new job and enduring six months of sleepless nights Judi attended her first yoga class – an act of desperation. In a very short time her weekly yoga class worked its magic helping to alleviate stress and anxiety. Something just kept drawing her back to class week after week.

Further workshops and a growing awareness of self inspired Judi to seek to deepen her practice and understanding of yoga by enrolling in the Yoga Scotland Foundation Course. Gradually yoga became more than just something to be done in a weekly class.

On completion of the course Judi was so eager to continue her yoga journey she enrolled on CYS teacher training at Chi Yoga School, Glasgow.

It was this journey from pupil to fledgling teacher that ignited Judi’s enthusiasm for Ashtanga vinyasa yoga– the flow of breath and movement, the discipline of a challenging sequence and the respect & humility that comes from practicing in an ancient tradition. Also came the growing awareness that all are pupils and teachers both.

“It is an honour to be able to share my practice of yoga, and a privilege to help and support students on their own personal journey” - Judi Farrell

Judi has been practicing yoga for 12 years and has attended workshops given by some of today’s most inspiring yoga teachers including Manju Jois, David Swenson, David Keil, Paul Dallaghan, Matthew Sweeney, Sean Corne and Sarah Powers.

Anthea

I went to my first Ashtanga Yoga class at The Practice Place, Edinburgh in 1999 and my mind, body and breath came together. The flow of movement, method of breathing and heat through my body, woke me up.

With no Ashtanga Yoga teacher in Glasgow, I was drawn to travel back and forth to Edinburgh and felt alive from this dynamic form of Yoga.

In 2001 I started going to June Mitchell’s classes at The Chi Yoga Centre. June’s weekly classes were an anchor to my week, and I felt huge benefits, physically, mentally and emotionally. June’s classes gave me the guidance to develop my own personal practice, and brought me to myself.

I studied with The Chi Yoga School and received my Yoga Teaching Certificate in 2004. I took post-graduate study over the next year at the Mysore Institute of Ashtanga Yoga and with other teachers from the Lineage.

Studying with devoted teachers such as Sri K Pattabhi Jois, Manju Jois, David Swenson, John Scott, David Keil, Rolf Naujokat and Paul Dallaghan immersed me into the discipline of Ashtanga Yoga and integrated the stamina and inner strength this form of yoga brings.

Monday Dynamic Hatha Yoga classes are rooted in the Ashtanga Yoga form, but modified with no vinyasa and are at a slightly slower pace.  This allows students to work a bit closer with each posture and their alignment. The classes include Sun Salutation, Dynamic Standing Postures, Balancing Postures, Forward Bending, Backward Bending, Twists and Inversions.

The Dynamic classes bring heat to your body aiding in the detoxification and release of muscle tensions and toxins, and the flow of sequences clears your mind, steadies your focus and revitalizes you.

I work with verbal and physical adjustments, and use my knowledge in anatomy and physiology to bring alignment to your body, to improve your posture, and increase the cleansing effect of your practise.

Yoga Practice has given me priceless tools. It is empowering, and I am passionate about facilitating others on their personal journey, in connecting, and being with their full potential. It is with honour and gratitude to my past and present teachers that I endeavour to pass on the teachings and healing benefits of Yoga to others to the best of my ability.
